35$ World's cheapest tablet is from India

It can be called world’s cheapest tablet pc.India’s remarkable 35$ tablet has been launched this week.This tablet pc will enhance the the students all over India in their education.

 

The HRD ministry of India launched this 5/7/9 inch touch screen gadget in New Delhi and said “The price of this gadget will drop further to 20$ and later to 10$ ”

 

The device is called as Sakshat meaning “before your eyes”

This tablet may become an Indian version of ipad.But the hardware specs are not clear yet,This device runs Linux OS and has wifi connectivity with 2GB of RAM , PDF reader, video conferencing facilities, open office,media player, remote device management, multimedia input-output interface option, and multiple content viewer.

This device can be powered either by battery or using solar power panel to be used in rural areas.

 

We came to know that these device prototypes are developed by students from premier institutes like IISC’s and IIT’s as the private firms were not supportive for this idea.

This device will be available by 2011 and the production has started now.

Best Buy working on its own Android tablet

Published: August 9, 2010, 2:50 PM ESTA picture recently shared by Best Buy's chief technology officer and Geek Squad founder, Robert Stephens, suggests the company is working on a tablet to sell under its Rocketfish brand. Not much is known about the device yet other than the fact that it bears a striking resemblance to the HP Slate and it is expected to run Google's Android platform.

The idea to develop a tablet reportedly began with the intention to use it internally by Best Buy employees as a communications tool, but the concept matured into something that could be sold to consumers as well. The decision makes sense given how the retailer is getting ready to launch its own 4G mobile data service early next year. Although we can't say built-in 4G connectivity is on the cards, at the very least they can market it with a portable WiMAX hotspot.

HP readying webOS tablet for early 2011

We all know HP's webOS tablet is coming, but the question remains 'when?' Well, if you were hoping to get one for Christmas it seems you'll have to wait a little longer. According to a report on Engadget, trusted sources in attendance at a recent HP employee meeting were told by Personal Systems Group VP Todd Bradley that the project, dubbed "Hurricane," will see the light of day in the first quarter of 2011.

Unfortunately, little is known about the device itself other than a possible name -- "PalmPad." The company was granted the trademark for that name back in July when it also confirmed its Windows-based tablet is still in the works. What we do know is that the company plans to offer some level of differentiation between the two, as the latter will target the business sector with a full blown desktop OS and pen-input capabilities, while its webOS device should appeal to consumers. The company is also said to be working on an electronic book reader powered by Google Android, which if true, means it will have to deal with the trouble of supporting three different tablet operating systems.
